Course Overview: GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) became fully operational in 1999. This latest development in marine communications adds a new feature to the long established VHF radio with the introduction of Digital Selective Calling (DSC).
This one day course is designed for people wishing to obtain the Maritime Radio Operator Certificate of Competence - Short Range Certificate in order to legally operate the VHF equipment on their boat.
